CZ and Max on the beach, Truro, Massachuetts by Nan Goldin, 1976

Of all the colour photographs Goldin took in the 1970s, this is probably the most polished and richly evocative. Full of details that give it movement, it plays intelligently with the unusual angle and saturated colours; its equilibrium makes it a perfect example of the snapshot.
